Well, a bit of an eventful trip. Dick's GPS interface to chart plotter failed so no chart plotter display (probably GPS internal battery). This meant I had to guide him down the Essequiibo River and over the shallow entrance area.  En- route he discovered his starter battery wouldn't hold it's charge (sounds familiar, I know where he can buy a new one!) and yesterday morning, along the north coast of Trini he called to say his engine had failed, could I tow him (about 13 miles all told). Some might say this is merely repaying old favours, I couldn't possibly comment (however, pictures are available, should sufficient cold beer not be forthcoming :)   )
Apart from that, the trip took 2 days and 10 hours and was quite pleasant. The Mercury dealer here has just told me spare parts take 8-10 working days to arrive and even if I pay for Fedex it will not happen any faster..... and they can't be ordered until Monday. Hmmm....faster to buy a new engine???
Cadey is busy retrieving her stuff off the boat she travelled down on............only about three suitcases worth!!
I may get the sail and furling gear repaired in Grenada, depending on what I decide to do about the outboard. I may be able to order spares from a dealer and have them Fedex'd out, probably from the UK as nobody out here stocks 4 stroke motors. I just might be able to stretch to a 5hp Tohatsu...thinking about it. I really don't want to spend two weeks in Trini and certainly wouldn't stay in Chagauramas. Scotland Bay tends to be a bit crowded and in any case is not clean. The north coast is OK in settled weather................watch this space.
