I always suspected

That I was a bit of an old scrubber at heart :)
The saloon looks almost habitable now, with all the underseat lockers
washed and drained, albeit only with gallons of freshwater. I'm getting a
little tired of the headlining dripping on me, but hey what do you
know?....it is white after all! The soap/disinfectant etc etc comes next
week.
Both engines are now dismounted, but the LH engine has suffered more
corrosion that t'other so it remains to be seen if it is indeed
reserectable. Certainly both starter motors and alternators have suffered
and will probably need replacing.
The woodwork doesn't look too too bad once the patina of mud is washed
off, although I suspect that there will always be some stains ( no
virgina, salt water stains).
Too early to make plans about remodeling of course, but now I don't need
shelving for about 300 books, why keep the shelves? Let's wait and see on
that eh?
Invoices left right and centre, but everybody is very understanding about
not being paid in full immediately and seem to expect to be questioned
closely on the amount; but I'm not the only one eagerly awaiting the
arrival of my replacement cards! Peter The German is off to Hawaii on
business for a couple of weeks, so I can relax a little about cleaning
cleaning cleaning. When he returns we'll come up with an 'action plan' and
timetable. Right now we're waiting for drawings from Mark at Broadblue and
PTG's feeling is that if the hulls are symetrical he'll make a mould for
the keels. The rudders he says are no problem and can be 'mantled'
locally. Talking about mantling locally; to remove, recover and replace
both engines/saildrives, Martin the mechanic has quoted me F$350 per
engine, just under £300 in total. I'm liking Fiji more and more :)
Had an interesting discussion about Hypnotherapy the other night. Somebody
is interested in smoking cessation, so as a return for kindness there is a
session tentatively arranged for next week. Back to the books, which
fortunately I did take off the boat.
What else? There's been talk of an afternoon riding Harleys, one of the
club members has two and was impressed that I used to commute to Bristol
on the Ultra Classic. Impressed? Well, I suppose the comment, '140
miles? You must be a mad c**t' counts as being impressed.
If this all sounds terribly upbeat, well all fine and dandy. There is one
underlaying problem of course, but somehow or other I'll raise the
necessary. I did think about selling body parts, but mine are mostly
knackered and anyway how many kidneys can you sell? :)
Then I thought about selling other peoples body parts, a modern day Burke
and Hare operation as it were, but I think there might be a tiny question
of illegality there, so it's best thinking trousers on.
