MOTORSAILING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The day started as advertised in the early morning forecast, E20-25kts. With wind over tide in the anchorage it took me nearly 40 mins to get the anchor up. It wasn't hard work but it needed patience to get the chain sticking out in front of the boat so I could do the old 'two-six heave' bit. Anyway, I motored out dead into wind and waves for a mile to clear tyhe harbour entrance, that took a bit of patience an' all, I can jolly well tell you.
So, turning on course I unfurled a bit of gennaker and off we jolly well went, doing six knots at times...wonderful. Bit lumpy but never mind. . Then the wind dropped so I unfurled ot more gennaker. Hmm, 2.7kts. I called a couple of boats ahead of me, they had around 10kts of wind. A short time later so did I and I switched on the donk. After an hour the inshore wind turned a bit westerly!!!! So I manually walked the gennaker round to the other side of the mast, had a nice chat to it and made myself some breakfast.
Just now as I was typing I had to break off to walk the gennaker back to the other side of the boat. The wind still hasn't come up but the overcast skies are drifting inland to be replaced by a lot of blueness. Perhaps the wind will come up again? Most likely I'll have to reef again.
It's never boring here, I tell you.
