Baie Hanamoenoa
A pleasant two hour drift across the 'cana' to the
neighbouring island. This anchorage is rated as one of the three prettiest in
the South Pacific. Hmmmm, not too sure about that but the weater is very clear
and there is a beach. It's Helen's birthday today so a tuna BBQ is the order of
the day. Hiva Oa was quite interesting but the anchorage was dirty and rolly,
requiring a stern anchor to hold you into the swell. Still, went up and saw Paul
Gauguin's grave and that of Jacques Brel (which I guess everybody does). Helen
went off and climbed a mountain with some other maniac Kiwis but after we hit
her a few times she settled down and probably won't do it again.
I have a new phone number. I have no idea of the
code, probably a Tahiti country code whatever that is and the mobile number is
300760. In coming calls are allegedly free but outgoing calls to the Uk seem to
cost about £2 per minute, outrageous! I have to call the UK because amongst
other things my Debit Card has been frozen (again) by the bank. Oh
joy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
