You should use a rag to put on wood stain. I know that now (thank you Molesworth).

OK,  so if at first you screw it up, turn Yuri loose on it

I'm sure that I heard him sigh when I first went on board this morning

Still can't get the mark out, but that will have to do. Tomorrow the varnishing!

Chart table looks good from some angles

but not so great from others. Again the black marks won't come out and I think that a coat of varnish is called for. I might just take it right back again, final decision in the morning.

A light manual sanding (wasn't he a Spanish Golfer?) with 220 sand paper took a lot of the red out of one section, so Yuri may be busy tomorrow. Basically, tomorrow should see varnish being sloshed around various places, maybe even on some wood surfaces
Did I tell you that my missing wallet finally turned up?  A couple brought it in to the club.......not too cleverly the guy told me that he found it in the taxi; needless to say the F$190 was missing  (didn't expect anything else) so he was a bit disappointed when I gave him F$50 for his trouble and said 'ta muchly'. His girlfriend said that he 'had been overseas' as an explanation as to why it took him so long to bring it in. Cancelled cards were all there as was my NHS card and my Guernsey Health card/PADI Open Water Divers' card and one or two other things.
A final tidbit...... the publishers are organising a book fair in October, so 'A Man out of Time' will be out in paperback in time for that. Still no word on the e publication date, I'll inquire and let you lot know
