Hmmmm. Since yesterday afternoon we've 'enjoyed' winds of 30+kts and large seas. Fully-reefed main and gib, we turned down swell last night to minimise the banging and crashing and so got a reasonable nights sleep, although the helmsperson had to keep their eyes open as the autopilot found the conditions a little trying :).
Interestingly, the wind generator suddenly sparang to life and I eventually switched it off,
A) the noise was disturbing the 'helmsperson' making them think the windspeed was absolutely horrific when it was only appalling (joking, it never got above F7, the top end of).
B) We were actually overcharging the batteries!
One minor annoyance is with all the bouncing around the watermaker gets too much air in the system to work continuously and has to be watched all the time. Mind you, witgh over half-tanks full and 1075nm to go this is not a particular problem. Things are 'supposed' to calm down in the next 24 hours so I'll be able run it again then.
The Spaniard who named this Ocean 'Pacifico' was having a laugh. It's not quite as bad as the last Atlantic crossing but this weather is NOT IN THE BROCHURES!!!!!! AY WISH TO REGISTER A COMPLAINT!!!!!!!
