Down in the marina, something stirred

Developments?
Last week nothing much happened with the engines.
I met John the GRP in town. His brother had been lost at sea whilst fishing. The upturned boat had been found but no brother. The Navy were still looking and until they turned the case over to the Police the family were in limbo as regards to arranging a service, and of course no body to bury. He apologised for not completing the rudders, but he had to tell all the family. Perfectly understandable. Arun had promised to come, but hadn't.

Last Friday night I put an arm-lock on Martin and said 'get my spares on board the boat, find the starter motor and get the bloody engines started'. That resulted in almost no action, except the in-line fuel filters have now been plumbed in, but one engine has no water-cooling system connected and no exhaust fitted. I also rang Arun Sunday. 'I've been ill bro etc etc'. He agreed to come this week.

Today, Tues, John the GRP is at the marina to finish laminating the rudders. He exploded and said 'please, leave this to me.' This time I agreed. He immediately rang Arun and told him that he'd recommended him for the job (true) so get his ass down to the boat and finish the job, he'd had months to do it. There were words, beginning with F said. He also went to see Martin, who now miraculously seems to have located the starter motor and repaired alternator! He wants to wait until Arun has finished the wiring because some of it runs through the engine compartments and he doesn't want to risk trampling on it? What??? That makes no sense to me whatsoever, but then this whole business has turned into a total mystery. I'm going to leave this to John and slip him a bit extra when things are done.Watch this space???

The club (RSYC) have kindly agreed a monthly rate for me to be alongside, F$250 which translates into just under £100. Obviously I can't afford to sit alongside too long, it's been three weeks already! Time is slipping away. I want to be in a position to leave at the middle of August, which I suddenly realised is the end of next week! I've been gradually putting photos on cabin walls, remounting the clock and barometer and trying to get the galley organised, but until everything is finished and people are off the boat I can't pack things away and can't see how many tools have gone walkabout!

In the meantime, today I'll look at publishing 'Kittie Cracks Case' as a paperback. Hopefully it'll be as easy as publishing it in e format. It will be a bit more expensive I'm afraid, but'll be available from Amazon.com and Amazon UK. Had my first review, you can read it here
