Despite my best efforts as cook yesterday [left-over 'Bean Surprise' for lunch, cinnamon cookies then a particularly fine, even though I say so myself, vegetable curry for supper] the wind died around midnight and left us drifting along at around 4 kts over the ground. It's picked up a little this morning, but even so we're only making around 5kts over the ground. Every cloud has a metallic-coloured lining, so the sea has moderated enough to use the water maker. Not that we're short of water (far from it) but if it stays calm for this morning I'll be able to top-up the water tank and have a couple of buckets for laundry. The 18th is still possible as we needed to maintain an average daily run of 151nm to arrive Fatu Hiva mid-afternoon, hence in daylight, and right now the average is 146nm. Things I'm sure will change, in the meantime
All is well on board!
