I see an anchor!!

After what seems like at least a month, I was able
to spot the anchor when I went for a snorkel around the boat! Well buried in
sand, this looks like (fingers crossed here) a nice secure anchorage; an
island in front of us, a reef to the left of us and just behind us, whilst away
to the right, at the end of the island is another reef, so well protected.Yes,
OK, we might drag on the little reef behind us, but mostly the wind would blow
us out through the gap.
We, or rather Simon, spotted the Germans in Mohea,
who we met in Bonaire. We all met up for a beer on BBQ island and wil probably
meet up with them again today. Also spoke to Pam and Jim (Delicado), who are in
Green Island, about seven miles away. Should meet up with them again in a day or
so.
Today the plan is a small sail repair (a nice, 3cm
round hole, just where the initial roll goes in the sail where it's furled away.
Can't do much with the foil itself at the moment, but it looks like it's
repairable in a machine shop.
Not too certain how long we'll stay in the area,
most of the Blue Water Rally fleet seem to be transiting the Panama Canal on the
11th, which will free-up anchorages (and Shelter bay marina). So, I think as I
need wifi access to look for more crew it'll be 'Hi Ho Trouters away' in a week
or so and down to Colon; Simon has decided that he can't face the thought of 25+
continuous days at sea, which is fair enough, long distance sailing isn't
everybody's cup of tea. I also keep getting messages from Facebook, telling me
various people have added me as a friend, so I'd better get up to date with that
as well.
Now, I know those of you 'enjoying' temperatures
just slightly below zero will have little sympathy with this, but the weather
here is a bit of an enigma. It's warm (OK, there goes all the sympathy), but
almost continually overcast with sometimes just thirty seconds or so of a light
shower, and this is the dry season. Thinking about it, when my old chums Hev and
Dennis went through Panama about six or so years ago, all their photos showed
the same sort of sky, so maybe this is normal for this time of
year.
OH yes, maybe I shouldn't mention this, but we
outsailed a Lagoon 380 yesterday, got much closer to the wind and walked away.
Apologies to all (1) of you Lagoon 380 owners out there, fine boats, lots of
room inside (tee hee) .
