Dicky!
I settled down in the anchorage & Moonshiner went off in search of a berth in La Sociedad. I got a call on the VHF to say that the harbour master was going on holiday and couldn't be bothered to collect berthing fees!!!!! Also, there was one space for a cat left. Needless to say, I upped anchor and hot-footed it round there like a , er, cat on a hot tin roof? Anyway, by the time I got there the HM was really in holiday mode & couldn't be bothered to look at ships docs! He didn't speak much english but showed me a handwritten sign which said
"Holiday 5th October"
An American boat checked in an hour or so before Moonshiner and tried to pay for a few days. They were charged for one night 'the rest is free'. What a wonderful place.
My plans are to stay here (no, not forever) until this weekend then go down the coast to Marina Rubicon (subject to space and not too outrageous berthing fees). The sail cover is beyond my modest capabilities to sensibly  repair and in truth all the stiching needs replacing...sounds like a professional job to me (no point in ruining a new boat with amateurish repairs at this stage) and gives me a chance to check sails/rigging over etc with professional help close by if anything needs doing.
Moonshiner's crew may come with me as Dick is planning on staying a bit longer and they're 'pineing for the bright lights'.
George, message passed ref  bouncing emails. If you send the sorry saga to my mailasail address that will be OK unless there are gruesome pictures attached!
I'm planning on a quick visit to the UK on about 6th Oct for a week or so, hope to see some of you then.
