Had a great sail down here yesterday from Portobello. The pricing is
strange here, US$297 for 4 days but only another US$15 and I can stay for
seven days??? Oh well, 7 days it is. Off for a mini shop today, then some
boatwork, the big job being the furling foil.
An agent, including transit fee, lines, fenders, paperwork and clearing
out of the country will cost about US$1130 so that's probably the way to
go as if I do it myself I'd only save about US$250 but would have to wait
three weeks for the refund of the 'bond' of US$850. I'd lose money on
exchange rate, wire fees to my account unless I stayed in Panama to
actually pick up the money in cash so the actual difference is probably
less, right now it seems a bit of a no-brainer, considering all the
running around I'd have to do to arrange it myself, more investigation
needed, I feel.
