The 'Old Lag'. Still afloat! Arun the Elektrik rang. He's coming today.
A Delhay 530 was next up. A quick scrub and anti-foul.
Good man!
A team effort. I remember team efforts, I scrubbed the boat in the Bay of Islands and the rest of the team didn't!
Mojomo. Proving that it's a small world I briefly met the owner, Matt, on the dock at Puerto Callero, Lanzarotte, just as I was casting off!
Martin remains superbly confident that the engines will run, meanwhile the engines remain un-run. Hey ho, he told me yesterday that he now has all the relevant bits, but of course it's the weekend....fishing and drinking time in Fiji (apart from Arun, hopefully).
Dare I hope to be 'up and running' by the end of next week? Well who dares wins, it'll be the end of a long hard road if it happens.
Yesterday I introduced the GPS Dongle to the navigational Lapdancer/Open CPN program and....it told me I was in the Royal Suva Yacht Club, Fiji! Blimey Guv'nor. I played around with a passage plan. 806nm to Noumea which at my three-year average passage speed of 5.5 kts will take me 6 days and odd hours. I think I'll plan on 10 days and tell people to start worrying if they don't hear anything after two weeks. No chance of resurrecting the sat phone I don't think, so no en-route position reports. On the other hand, if you all start buying the book..... (one paperback sold already).
