Yesterday was a rush around day. First off I needed to get certified copies of my passport and drivers licence, no, wait, I'm missing out some crucial steps. First off I had my bigger than a McDogburger double whopper with extra whop breakfast, then I went to the bankeroony to get yet more filthy lucre to pay for the new batteries (3x 200A/H house batteries and 2x70 A/H starter batteries), then I brought some more Internet data and THEN I got the certified copies. Walked round to the local TNT offices and sent off said docs to DVLA Swansea. Luckily, I had the name of a person there and the actual physical address, couriers will not deliver to PO boxes and they need a contact name. After that, I got the definitive answer to the question 'can I claim VAT back on goods brought in Fiji'. NO, in a word so that's that. Naturally, that involved a walk right to the other end of Suva, but hey, these sandals are made for walking (just a shame the feet weren't).
This morning was pay Arun the electric a stage payment day (as is tomorrow, the budget is on Monday and the smart money says things aren't going to get any cheaper!). Basically, as you can see, the batteries are out and the locker has been cleaned up. We've decided to relocate the starter batteries nearer the engines, most probably in the foot lockers in each aft cabin, this will free up space on the battery compartment. I'm waiting for prices on a new solar regulator and wiring, 'the boys' al feel that things like that are much cheaper overseas, even allowing for shipping costs. We'll see, it seems to take about a week to get a response from UK/Aussie
