Paul finished the new rudder and it was a perfect fit. I say was rather than is because to fix it to the framework we filled the slots into which the rudder post tines slide with epoxy mix. The trick was to fit the rudder just as the epoxy mix started to gel. It was difficult to judge and we got it wrong by about ten seconds, so in the bottom of the slots the mix started to gel. We couldn't get the last inch and a half of tine in. Oh well, Paul wrapped some GRP matting around the rudder post and epoxied them to the blade so all should be well. He was annoyed with himself because he'd done a really good, exact job.

I would have posted some photos but unfortunately the new camera battery refuses to charge. It could either be the battery itself or possibly the charger. Monday's job, after taking on fuel, will be to leg it back to the battery shop and see if they can determine the problem. Naturally, Saturday (departure day) and  Friday are  public holidays here so Thu we are clearing out with Customs which doesn't leave much time if they have to order another battery! Another small problem is my IPad has locked-up and keeps telling me I haven't backed-it up recently. I've never actually backed it up in the 91 weeks that I've had it and usually just tapping on OK clears it. Not this time. As this is my primary navigation tool Monday will be a busy day. Of course there is no Apple service centre in Darwin.
