Friends and strong wind warnings

Pam and Jim (ex-Delicado) came to visit and stayed overnight. Great to see them again, the last time we saw each other was in the Marquesas sometime in 2010! Anyway had a great time catching up and in a moment of deja-vue Jim kindly did some nifty stitching on the gennaker and put on three patches for me (or was it four?). We seem to remember that he performed a similar task back in 2009 when we all took a trip down to Guyana when Delicado was on the hard in Trinidad.
Anyway, all 'hot to trot' onwards to Cairns BUT there is a strong wind warning basically from 'way oop North lad' down to just south of my present location, Airlie beach. SE (right direction!)25-30kts (wrong speed and don't forget that 'maximum gusts may be 40% higher than forecast') until Sat morning when it all allegedly starts to calm down. The barometer has already started falling, a good sign in these parts squire, so maybe this afternoon's forecast will be a different story but why go looking for trouble?
Calypso are a 'couple of stops' ahead of me and have reported maximum winds around 20kts. It's tempting but having spent a few hours watching Jim repair a sail... patience boy, patience! Time-wise there's no panic yet and provided I get going on Saturday I should still be in Cairns, the distance half-way point, by Wed next week. That will have taken just on one month indicating an arrival in Darwin some time in the first week of July. I have signed-up for the Sail Indonesia rally which departs on the 27th July and as the first leg, Darwin to Ambon in Indonesia, is about 4/5 days depending on wind/engine revs I don't exactly need a lot of time to provision!
