Shute Bay.

Made contact with the 'Elusive Calypsonians'. I sought them there, I sought them here and now I've found them
They weren't expecting me for another couple of days and as the fleshpots of Hamilton Island proved to be more suited to the pockets of those gainfully employed they'd decided to move to Airlie Beach. HOWEVER, there is a 'dreaded (or should that be dratted?) northerly forecast so as Shute Bay is on the way but only nine miles they decided to drop in here. It was only about another five or six miles from where I was at the time and as I'm OK for fuel and water until Airlie Beach I decided to take advantage of a reasonable tide and join them, so here we are.

If I had a couple of months to spare the area around Port Clinton to here would have been worth exploring slowly. Plenty of little anchorages, provided you can check them out in daylight. Unfortunately I don't have the time so never mind. The bits of the Whitsundays that I've seen so far remind me of the Bay of Islands in NZ. The temperature is about the same as well except I was in the BOI in mid-summer and this is late autumn I suppose. Well, I am in the tropics but it's comfortably warm as opposed to hot. Last night I was able to sail for a while without wearing a fleece!

Bloody engine!!!!!!!! It had behaved perfectly the entire trip until early this morning. It beats me, the injectors wouldn't be so intermittent and the lift pump either works or it doesn't. Hey ho, at least I'm used to it can can plan 'an approach' accordingly.

A quick tidy up, quick because the boat is always kept immaculate under way (yeah right!) then over to Calypso for a chin wag and supper. Tomorrow I'll get in touch with Pam and Jim Delicado to see if I can arrange a meet-up. She's not what she was when we went up the Essequibo so bring camping gear guys
