Coastal countdown

I now have enough rice on board to get me to Malaysia and enough flour and dried beans to almost get to Darwin! I need to keep reminding myself that actually there will be some shopping opportunities en route. There's just under 1500 miles of coastline before Cape York and the left turn to Darwin. People do actually live on the coast and they have to buy things to eat so I really don't need a Panama-'style shop before departure

Tomorrow will be 'shout at the windlass day'. I'm not hopeful of getting it working but that's just tough. Right now my plan is to drift down-river on the ebb on Tuesday as far as the fuelling dock, top up with fuel and water then anchor for the night down there. I haven't checked the tide times yet but Wednesday I'll go out to Moreton Island, which is all of eleven miles from the river mouth and maybe try to scrape the hulls a bit. Thursday I head north The first stop should be Mooloolaba or perhaps a twenty four hour run (about) to Fraser Island. There I'll hopefully meet up with Calypso and Viatrix. The anchorage is quite empty now, apart from local boats.

I think I should get a 3G signal most of the way 'oop north', the Optus map says as far as Port Douglas then basically nothing until Cape Yorke itself. Hopefully then you'll see the old position change as I go. Naturally, I'll confirm my departure but for the moment that is the plan, Stan.
