Well, Trouters was successfully re-launched this
morning (thu 12/11). All went well although there was quite a swell running in
the marina at Plasito Blanco, due to the strong easterly winds we've had for the
last couple of days. Anyway, Dick (Moonshiner) kindly helped me re-anchor
outside the marina and I reciprocated by helping him postion and fix the two new
solar panels he couldn't resist buying! Trouters now has very clean bottoms
which I doubt will last long, but they look good! Now the boat is back in the
water the rigging isn't quite as tight as I originally thought, but I'm told
that's no bad thing for a cat.
I now also know why my anchor is called a
Rocna......it attracts rocks!!!!! I found the only three rocks in the bay at
Cascais, a couple in the bay off Playa Quemada and now I find that I seem to
have put myself in a 'rock garden'. I'll have a snorkel round tomorrow, but I
think if conditions are suitable I'll go back into the marina and take on fuel
and water, prior to moving on. We adjusted the Kiwi props a third of a turn, so
I should get 300/400 more rpm. If I fill up now I'll have a chance to re-check
the fuel consumption, although the fact the props are barnacle-free and the boat
is 'slippery' will no doubt also help.
