Slowly, relentlessly and inexorably

I'm being ground down here. Probably I would only be going mildly insane if the light at the end of the tunnel wasn't the train coming, but as it is.....
The day started well, I woke up (well, I'll take that as starting well).
I got down to the boat and Martin was just getting off.
We (read HE) has 'lost' one locating ring that goes around the top of the saildrive doughnuts, and both rubber seald. the seals aren't such a problem and can be made locally, the ring would take several weeks to manufacture if I can't locate one in the UK. I'm holding fire ordering until we're certain it can't be found.

He then asked if I'd put fresh water in the fuel tanks. Nope, why would I anyway he'd drained them before he removed the engines. Ah, well yes and no, actually. He'd drained some out, and was now draining the rest, which he thought that i'd put in there. He'd tasted it, it was salt water.....so why ask if I'd put fresh water in?
Watching the liquid drain out of the bottom of the boat, it looked a trifle dieselish to me, so a large drum was placed underneath the drain. A taste test revealed....... salt water with a hint of diesel. Well never mind, the tanks can be flushed with water and biocide. All things being equal, these two 'minor' things would be a source of frustration, which would be overcome by the growing excitement of the imminent launch. As it is.....

Anyway, one day at a time. The gelcoat is now on the hulls. Blue anti fouling is unavailable. I've chosen black in preference to red, which seems to attract whales.

My cabin is starting to look very smart

More piccies tomorrow, but where the lockers are will be yellow, the dado rail white and the lower vertical surface blue. Any prospective buyers can specify their own colour scheme on receipt of a 10% deposit.

All quite bright and cheerful really.

Finally, you'll have to use your imaginations a lot with this one as I didn't take a camera out to the reef with me. Some people still find it hard to believe that Trouters was completely submerged.

Imagine being in a dingy and all you can see of Trouters is what you see in the photo above, but at an angle of 45 deg.

Well, that's it for now. More boats arriving, which makes me a bit more depressed. I'll miss this cruising life, I really will.
