Puerto de Naos

Well,
still in Puerto de Naos. It´s still a bit of a ´low rent´area, but I´ve moved into the outer harbour where the holding is a little better & there´s more space (enough to swing a cat, in fact).
The last three days have been spent in a hire car, ´doing´ the island. The tourist bits in the south of the island are fairly tacky (Irish bars, all day English breakfasts etc) but once you get away from the southern end it all gets a bit better. As you would expect from an island that has specialised in tourism for nigh on 40 years, all the places are fairly slick at parting you from the contents of your wallet but some of it is worth seeing. If this sounds like I haven´t been enjoying myself then I´ve phrased it clumsily because I´ve had fun, and not had to spend a lot of money, all things considered.
The plan now is to move out of the harbour for a couple of days, then into the marina at Puerto Calero on the 1st. I´ve booked flights back to Blighty on the 4th (returning on the 15th) and a hire car for the duration so I´ll be mobile. The only snag in the arrangements is that I have to check in by 0525 on the 15th (at LHR) so if I´m overnighting in Bournemouth that´ll mean leaving about 0300 or so. I´ll arrange to have the stackpack repaired whilst I´m away & also the reefing sorted out.
The weather has turned iffy today. Lots of rain & thunder last night and this morning the boat was covered in Saharan sand. Amazing that the harbour water was cleaner than the boat! This weather pattern is set to continue for a couple of days, but it´s still warm (27deg) so no real hardship. There´s plenty of spaces in the marinas and a pleasant surprise was that Calero do not have a surcharge for cats so the stay will cost me  just under 30 euros per night. Expensive in terms of my budget, but a good place to leave the boat and only a 15 minute taxi ride to the airport.
Well, that´s it for now. I thought I had posted 10 photos on the blog site but they don´t seem to have materialised! When I get WIFI I´ll try again, in the meantime you´ll just have to be patient! Plans for the next couple of months? Well, probably leave Lanzarotte on about the 20th Oct then maybe Gran Canaria or possibly a quick stop at ´´Fartyvetura. I´m still planning on touring all the islands and the time-frame is OK so we´ll see.
