Dog days?

And so the days start to drift by. The starboard keel should be bonded on
tomorrow and no, 'John the GRP' does not want any assistance, but thanks
for asking. 'Relax Peter' he says. In fact, he says that whenever I offer
to help......hmmm, maybe he's taken a good look at the work I've done
inside the boat and formed his own conclusions!
Anyway, Arun the electrician is coming next Monday ( what, no Gas Man?) .
Martin the Mechanic said he tested the wiring over the weekend and thought
it was OK, but he was confident that Arun would reckon it needed
replacing. This week I will mainly be trying to find a cheaper source of
engine bits, stay out of coffee shops ( unsuccessfully, right now I'm
afraid), and attempting to get motivated to edit/ write some more of
Eliezer 2.
More boats are leaving for NZ, which leaves me with a strange, restless
feeling that I should be going with them. Calypso have gone 'round the
corner' for a couple of days/ a week, so I will hopefully see them when
they come back to check out. Although I have made some friends here, it's
nice to meet up with 'the old crowd'. (NO Paul, I wasn't referring to
you!). I guess the 'Old Guard' still in the Caribbean or the Eastern
Seaboard of the USA must be getting ready for the forthcoming season, not
to mention my chums in this years ARC (Abbey, son Will and Larry, in
Salila).
For those of you enjoying the Northern Hemisphere late Autumn, it's sheer
hell here. Temperatures must have been in the high twenties all last week,
with the occasional rumble of thunder and brief showers. Today it's a
little cooler with a pleasant breeze. Sitting in the bar of the RSYC with
the Calypsonians last week, enjoying a cold beer/ G&T, watching the tops
of the palm trees waving gently in a blue, blue sky, there was the feeling
that life, after all, wasn't too bad.
