Do you remember I mentioned the really dumb bit of woodwork? The shelf on the starboard side that screwed into the wall except you couldn't get to the screw heads? This may jog your memory.

Yeah?  remember it? OK, well after some thought (about ten seconds or so)......

After Kuto and myself tackled it, this is what it looked like. There followed much muttering and sanding (now there's a surprise) and the 'butterfly' was cleaned up and might even  go back together again!
Staining is now finished in the saloon area.

Now this nay come as a bit of a shock, but there is a bit of sanding and varnishing to do! As I suspecte4d, the large tin of varnish has 'gone off', so I had to make a quick trip to Vinod Patel and get a small tin this time. Hopefully, this coming week should see the saloon area finished.
I asked Nicola the Publisher if she knew of a cheap hotel in Aberdeen. She recommended one just down the road from her, the headline price for an en-suite single is £97 per night! I'm obviously out of touch with UK prices. Haggling is called for but I'd really like to go up for the weekend, might even make the local papers, who know?
