Right, paid for the 'engineering work',  NZ$495!!!! Or about £250
Be that as it may (and it was, dammit!) caught up with Kilkea 2 on their arrival back in Opua. Seems like everybody is waiting for a weather window to go to Fiji. The ICA (Island Cruising Association, NZ club) are hoping to get away on the 30th, but the weather looks ****! Probably towards the end of next week at the earliest, birthday in NZ then! Anyway, just to be sure put in our advance notice of departure, I have to ring Customs the night before to confirm when we are going, then apparently we have 3 hours to leave after having checked out..... three hours to refuel because allegedly we can't do that and reclaim the GST (same same VAT) until we have physically checked out, the same three hours to get any duty-free booze/fags delivered (none, in our case) then offski.
In preparation, Trouters was taken around to Russell, beached and the barnacles removed. No wonder we were going so slowly, even the barnacles on the prop blades had barnacles! And yes, we did get off again

A mere three (OK, 2.5 hours) to scrape off and wipe off the green slime. No weed, but boy those barnacles!
