OK, the plan was to leave Opua reasonably early after taking on fuel &
water and head for Whangumumu (or something like that!). We got off to a
leisurely-ish start after having to wait for a Gin Palace to take on a
gazillion litres of diesel. After 10 minutes i went and got some water
instead. After that got onto the fuel dock and .....it's automated and
only takes credit cards, but not mine on this occasion!!!! In the meantime
crew had gone walkabout, returning with some 'essentials', i.e. sugar
(fairy snuff) Thousand Island dressing (well...) and pillowcases
(what???).
Into the bay en route for Cape Brett. The weather forecast was spot on -
not! After a couple of hours of headwinds and seas we headed for Dickies
Bay. Perhaps tomorrow will be better, but in the meantime I'm an unfeeling
swine because we 'could have stopped at Russell', for more essential
shopping in the thrift store and browsing in the art gallery.
Hey Ho!!!!
