Repairs are finished on the hulls and I've resolved the anti-fouling
issue. Luckily (for me) the yard cleaned off the old anti-fouling and
prepared the hulls for painting before giving me a quote. Under the
circumstances, the insurers have agreed that I (we, actually) do the
application of the barrier coat and the anti-fouling and they will provide
the materials. The barrier coat is now on.
Just about to check the position (geographically) of the props on DHL's
website. No sign of the seals for the inspection hatches, but they are on
the way.
A literary agent in NZ has agreed to accept an emailed manuscript, so
things are progressing. In the meantime, 'splash' has been tentatively
scheduled for next Friday, just need to assemble the spondulicks to pay
the excess on the insurance policy; and yes, I'm having an on-going
'discussion' with the broker about where the 'extra' excess appeared from.
At the moment it's all my fault for not realising it of course, but
strangely enough I have a cover note which says 'excess £2500', which
rather shoots down the argument that the excess is always raised for a
Transpac. Unfortunately, I revised the cover slightly (which I was told
was done at no extra cost) so this isn't the end of the story, I feel an
email to the insurance ombudsman coming on.
