After seven days anchored off Caraminel, I thought I'd give the town a change of scenery & move! Ironically, after I'd taken on water at the marina (free of charge) as I motored away two boats came in that I'd met before. The temptation was to turn around, re-anchor and have a party but as it was 0930 in the morning I resisted the temptation and carried on ¬ sorry guys!
Anyway, after a bit of intricate pilotage [which reminded me of sailing around Guernsey, they have granite rocks here as well], dodging the odd large coaster AND the water bomber (CL44) which was doing practice water-pickups in the ria I arrived at what promised to be a seculded anchorage just east of Peninsula O Grove. The main bit of the peninsula is a holiday resort, but this anchorage was off a small island, advertised in the pilot book as 'for the smart set'. Well, naturally I thought, "that's for me", pressed my best lurid red swimming trunks and dropped anchor. There are, however, a couple of snags:
Firstly, there is more water than indicated on the chart, not normally a problem, but it does mean that Juan Jet-Ski, Pablo Powerboat &  assorted sight-seeing tourist 'barges' come blasting through the area at fairly regular intervals. I may stay here for a couple of days, just to annoy them!!!
PS
For those who don't know, in the height of the summer in Galicia, they have quite a few fires inland. The 'water bombers' are exactly that, aircraft which are modified to come in low over the water, scoop-up hundreds of gallons then fly over the fire and drop the lot in an attempt to put the fire out.

PPS
weather quite hot, clear skies and a nice northerly wind for when you want to go sailing.
