We've had a great time in Dominica, with lots of hiking, waterfalls & totally stunning views. It's an unspoilt island, for the most part, although the noise from the bars at Portsmouth means that I probably won't be returning here (although I would anchor in Rouseau). A great shame because Portsmouth is a scenic anchorage and it's an interesting town of contrasts. The bar area is pretty much run down and typically Caribbean, but when you get to the other end there is the Ross Medical University (an American institution) which is very smart. There are (very expensive) neat apartment blocks for the students to stay in and a constant security patrol. We had sundowners in an hotel overlooking the bay, run by a Dutch couple and very pleasant it was to.
Anyway, checked out this morning and after a very pleasant sail we are now in the Saintes.
As you see below, Dominica is a colourful island. Also a south-bound Tiger Frightener (as I said previously, a cock-up in the communications department!)
