S & M arrived and without delay, set off for northern section of The Freedom Trail, a marked route taking in most of the historic sights of the city. The Faneuil Hall was our starting point - market place and meeting hall since 1743. Easily distracted by street performers: Houdini style escapologist and acrobat performing one handed handstand at height surrounded by knives. Lots to entertain in this vibrant area Next up was Paul Revere’s House, built about 1680, oldest in Boston. Queue too long to go in; we were on a mission with M’s new bionic knees leading the way at a swift pace. Then Old North Church, 1723, Copp’s Hill Burying Ground, Charlestown Navy Yard and USS Constitution - the oldest commissioned warship afloat which we viewed from afar. |
