A very pleasant surprise. The town is not uber touristy and away from the immediate front there are some very tranquil spots.  Had our very own personal Pilgrim Guide to take us on a walking tour of historic Plymouth. Formerly Leo The Miller when he ran the old mill, now Leo The Husband (he and his wife run the Jenney Museum), does 2 talks a day, when there are takers. He had a great sense of humour, was very informative as well as entertaining, a true story teller. Don’t know what the locals thought of F and Me following behind!  The Mayflower anchored out in the bay and sent a shallop, a little larger than a dinghy, to survey the area. Plymouth was a perfect spot for their plantation, had a river fed by crystal clear spring water and which subsequently powered the mills.  There are numerous large decorated lobsters, sponsored by various companies, spread around the town, part of The Lobster Crawl, a major public arts, tourism and charitable event. This one is “Clawdia”, sponsored by Wood’s Seafood and Plymouth Cruises. . |
