Thursday 8th September – Messolonghi

Last night we slept well in a quiet marina; the bread man arrived at 9am and we then had a slow breakfast and caught up on the blog.

We then started on the boat jobs… the wind was light so we decided to get the genoa down.  The furling on the genoa has been a bit temperamental since we flew the cruising chute when we were in the Dardanelles but having checked out the rigging all seems fine, possibly the spinnaker halyard has been fouling on the swivel mechanism.  Still, the genoa is all packed away in the stern cabin now.

Our immediate neighbours went out sailing for the day, they are due to hoist out of the water tomorrow, and so we were able to get our permanent shore lines rigged.

Now we are in the shelter of the marina, the temperature is feeling higher and it is reaching 36°C down below in the afternoons – very hot and sticky.

Late afternoon we got the bikes off the boat.  Fortunately they were still in reasonable order and after pumping up the tyres and sorting out the gears we made a late trip to the supermarket to buy some essentials.

Once we were back Gavin, Mary and Russell popped round for drinks so we could catch up with what has been happening in Messolonghi since we have been away.
