Thursday 19th July – Brixham to River Yealm (Newton Ferrers)

50:18.630N 4:03.214W

We left Brixham at midday (having waited for the canoeing class going on behind us to finish) and after rounding the headland under motor (as there was no wind), Richard sailed for a time in 2 knots of wind (basically drifted) whilst Karen fished.  A couple of mackerel were caught fairly quickly, swiftly despatched, cleaned and put into the fridge for later.  We then motored on until after Start Point, where, once again, Richard sailed whilst Karen caught another couple of mackerel (dinner for two evenings, now).  Richard was a little put out as he was making 3-4 knots in virtually no wind but was required to reef to slow us down so that Karen could get her second mackerel!  Eventually we arrived at the River Yealm and picked up a mooring buoy alongside another yacht and enjoyed a mackerel supper.
