Sunday 22nd July –Plymouth

Today the event was finding Sainsbury’s to restock food and drink – what an exciting plan du jour.  It sounds simple enough until you consider that we no longer have a car for these supermarket runs and we have clearly got used to having one.  So, we trotted off to town carrying a small, collapsible trolley bought specially for the purpose.

We popped in to see about a tour around the Plymouth Gin distillery en route and decided to do the last tour at 3.30 on the way back (optimistic as we hadn’t found Sainsbury’s yet). Sainsbury’s turned out to be a good half hour’s walk in the shopping centre over the other side of town.

By the time I had loaded up the shopping trolley, there was no way it was all going to fit into our flash little trolley, so we laboured back loaded down with many bags as well as the tiny trolley. Having dragged the trolley back through the streets of Plymouth, I can happily report that Plymouth has excellent wheelchair access along its streets though rather too many cobbled areas – difficult for the smaller wheel.

Unfortunately we missed the distillery tour by the time we had finished, but luckily I had thought to buy some Gin just in case.
