Wednesday 21st May – Caleta de Valez – Almerimar

After a short sleep, we were up again early and on our way.  Today the wind was not as good, in fact there was no wind at all during the morning and we motored along the coast.  During the afternoon the promised F3-4 kicked in, but was mainly a low F3 and not enough to sail downwind.  We had about an hour of a good F4 which allowed us to sail and give the motor a rest before the wind disappeared again.

It was blazing hot sunshine all day and even Richard was smearing on the Sun Factor 30.

We arrived in Almerimar this evening and the staff here are all extremely friendly and helpful – we chatted and joked as we were checking in.  Whilst Richard was sorting out the fenders on the waiting pontoon ready to go to our berth, the guys were talking to me about a football match in TV tonight as they are Manchester Utd supporters.

Once on berth, we had a short sun-downer before tidying up and having dinner.  After a long day, dinner was quite late and we are looking forward to not getting up early again tomorrow – two days on the trot is enough!
