Tuesday 4th September – Gijon

Quiet day, so not a big update.  Up late and awoke to rain, so that meant a lazy breakfast whilst it cleared – we had the pineapple I bought yesterday freshly juiced (my juicer being one of the luxury items I brought with me), fresh fruit salad with yogurt and coffee.

The sun came out and we had a walk to the indoor market for a browse.  We came back around lunchtime and had bread and cheese with a glass of wine.  This afternoon I tackled a pile of washing and this evening it was roast chicken quarter for Richard and smoked herring for me (yummy, Richard doesn’t know what he’s missing).

The forecast predicted high winds and swell by this evening, and, they were right; I had to bring my washing in to stop it flying away, despite having six pegs on a sheet that I had washed.  Look forward to a break in the wind tomorrow so that I can finish drying it!

Gijon is great.  We really like the market and the small shops that seem to have everything.  Our Spanish isn’t very good yet but we are trying to get better – we did manage to buy our dinner at the market this morning but not very confidently.
