Monday 27th July – Argostoli, Kefalonia

This morning we went for a walk across the causeway that has created a lagoon at the lower end of the bay.

On the way we paused by some small fishing boats alongside the town quay as there were people gathered around with cameras; as we watched we could see there were a few large turtles swimming around – we were delighted as they were much larger than the ones we had seen whilst sailing.

Once across the causeway, we went to visit the unfinished marina that is on the other side of the bay – it really is in the middle of nowhere; apparently it is free if you want to go in and moor but there are no facilities, no electricity and no water, just some bollards to tie to.  There look to be a few abandoned boats in there at the moment but most of it is empty, maybe one day it will get finished.

On the way back to Pyxis we stopped off at the supermarket and I bought some feta cheese and Greek yogurt so that I can make some proper Tzatziki – I have been making it with normal yogurt but it doesn’t have the same creaminess.

After lunch I did some water-painting in the cockpit and we had dinner on board.
