Friday 14th September – La Coruña

Another hot and sunny day here in La Coruña – again, very pleasant.  The guys on the ARC boat opposite said goodbye as they are flying home for a week – hope we’ll see them again later further around the coast.

We went for a tram ride to the nearby lighthouse – Torre de Hercules.  It’s the world’s oldest lighthouse site, dating back 2000 years.  When you enter it, you pass through an excavation of the remains of the Roman lighthouse upon which the successive ones have been built.  We climbed up the tower and, boy, it was windy outside when we climbed out onto the balcony near the top - we had to hold our glasses on!

A chance conversation with a neighbouring yacht revealed that the girl is a hairdresser.  So, this evening they came round, I had my hair cut and we then spent a very pleasant, if once again somewhat alcoholic evening, chatting and drinking.
