Wednesday 24th June – Grand Harbour, Malta (Marsaxlokk)

This morning we did some jobs aboard Pyxis; just after 9.00 the sail maker turned up as arranged to pick up our genoa - we have decided to have the protective sun strip replaced as it is getting beyond repair.

Late morning we took a bus to Valletta to meet up with Rosi and Otwin.  We then all boarded another bus and headed out to the fishing village of Marsaxlokk.

We walked along the front, visited the beach at one end of the bay and then walked back past the tourist tat stalls towards the other end of the bay and selected a restaurant for lunch, sitting by the sea so that we could enjoy the picturesque view.

After a very relaxing lunch we carried on further along the bay, checking out the chandlery used by the local fishermen on the way, and then wandered around the town before taking the bus back to Valletta.  At Valletta we said goodbye to Rosi and Otwin and we each headed back to our respective marinas.

This evening as I went off to the shower I chatted to our neighbours Kath and Stephen on Calista – they have been very good neighbours.  Sadly they are returning to the UK tomorrow as they have just sold their boat so that they can travel further afield.
