Friday 30th May – Arrival Cartagena

The wind remained light overnight but managed to go from dead astern to right on the nose this morning and then back again; in addition we had the current against us slowing our speed – nevertheless we kept plugging on.

The night was clear giving a great view of the star constellations and some shooting stars.  We passed only a few other boats during the night.

We arrived at Cartagena around 11.00 this morning.  Sedna had arranged berths for both arriving boats and were on hand along with what seemed like all the marina staff to greet us.  Once the boats were tied up we went aboard Sedna for a much needed cup of coffee and a glass of Rosado (just the one as we had work to do).

We then caught up with Stephen and Anne on Wandering Dragon who came around to meet us and have been here for a week or so.

This afternoon we have tidied up Pyxis – it’s amazing how untidy the boat becomes when travelling over night, and I have even done the washing as it was warm and sunny and tomorrow some rain is forecast.

Richard had a brief wander into town late this afternoon to visit the tourist information office and pick up a few provisions from the local supermarket.

We are having an early night after not much sleep last night and will explore Cartagena more thoroughly tomorrow.
