Saturday 5th July – Cala Molta, Mallorca – Punta de l’ Avançada, Mallorca

We had a little rolling overnight as the land breeze swung us around against the swell but not too bad.

Just after 11.00 we weighed anchor and headed on up the coast.

We had a fair southerly breeze F4/5 giving us a reasonable genny run; once past the headlands and into the Bahia de Alcudia the wind dropped.  It was time to give the cruising chute another try.

We quickly rigged the chute and unfurled it, promptly to find there was even less wind – with the instruments registering 0.8 knots of true wind from astern it was time to call it a day and start the engine.

We motored on to pick up a mooring buoy at Punta de l’ Avançada; unfortunately the buoy we had reserved was occupied by a boat with no-one aboard so we picked up one of the larger moorings just to the side which was free.

The marina at Puerto de Pollença is just a mile away, so, having sorted ourselves out we left the dinghy and Moonshadow defending the buoy and took Pyxis across to the marina to refuel.  The fuel berth was free so we were quickly able to top up on diesel for Pyxis and petrol for the outboard.

As we arrived back at our mooring we caught up with the harbour-master and were able to sort out the mooring situation, we are staying on the larger buoy.  Moonshadow then headed off to the marina to refuel whilst we sorted Pyxis out.

Once sorted, we took the dinghy back to Puerto de Pollença for a supermarket run; having found a Eroski we are now suitably re-provisioned for a few more days J

This evening we had a short sundowner and debrief on Moonshadow before retiring to Pyxis for dinner.

Tonight there is a new moon rising gently above the moorings and we are sitting in the cockpit, approaching midnight, watching the stars and writing the blog in temperatures it would be too cruel to mention (suffice to say we are not having to wear very much).
