Friday 8th August – Cala de Santa Ponsa, Mallorca

Today started with a bit of drama as we were trying to have breakfast.  We were alerted by the boat next door who was shouting to a very large motorboat that they had just snagged another anchor when pulling up their own.  Unfortunately it was the anchor for Moonshadow and we saw it taking Moonshadow off for a walk like a dog on a lead.

Peter had only just headed off into the marina to get some fuel for the rib-boat so Carola was aboard by herself.  Quickly we leapt into the dinghy to try to help but things were getting quite complicated by the strong wind we were having this morning and the motorboat was quickly blown down alongside another boat at anchor as well.  Fortunately some other people in dinghies joined us from other boats nearby and things were quickly sorted.  I climbed aboard Moonshadow to help Carola whilst Richard fetched Peter from the marina.

Soon Moonshadow was back at anchor.  The motorboat went and anchored further away and then the skipper came to speak to both boats to check for damage.

But then drama struck the unfortunate motorboat again.  Whilst the skipper was with Moonshadow the large motorboat behind it decided to leave.  It had a lot of anchor chain out and its anchor was beneath his boat and the chains snagging again.  This time Peter went to help with his rib boat.  Once clear again, the skipper decided that Santa Ponsa was obviously not meant for him today and decided it was time to go somewhere else.

Finally, we were able to finish breakfast around 1pm.

Fortunately the rest of the day has been a little less exciting, not so many motor boats have arrived for the day, though this evening the anchorage has become very full with yachts.
