Wednesday 2nd April – Puerto Sherry

36:34.792N 6:15.255W

Today we had a leisurely breakfast in the cockpit enclosure – it was already warm enough for a bikini.

The very strong winds we were expecting were not around over breakfast and I wondered if the forecast may be wrong.  However at around 11am they kicked in good and strong; it was really strange though, even in winds that ran between F5 and F8 for the rest of the day (with a max of 39.3 knots) the warmth of the wind meant that it was still bikini weather; one of the forecasts for Rota showed just F3/4 for today so that was a bit out!

As Puerto Sherry is pretty large and the marina reception is in the lighthouse by the entrance, Richard and Peter went to the reception in Peter’s RIB to pay our dues.  Apparently it was pretty choppy in the marina entrance, and having quickly become drenched in the waves they decided to drop back to the fuel pontoon rather than try the reception pontoon.  Richard came back reporting that he had been drenched by the spray but that he was dry by the time he reached the office as a result of the sun/wind combination on the way along the harbour wall.

Peter and Carola came for afternoon tea, well coffee. Peter put some finishing touches to the microwave installation and Richard tried to configure some software on Peter’s PC.  Carola and I relaxed in the cockpit enclosure.

We have had a quiet night in and we hope the wind abates a bit so that we can get some sleep tonight.
