Wednesday 15th September – Messolonghi (Scraping the hull)

This morning the water was clear around Pyxis, no boats were being lifted or cleaned, and Electric Monk was still away, so a good time to drop in the water and take a look at the underside of Pyxis and give it a clean.

So after breakfast Richard donned his wetsuit and fins and spent the rest of the day diving beneath Pyxis to scrape the hull and propeller free of crud.  Whilst he was doing this I was researching barnacles on the internet to see if I could find out their breeding patterns.  I found out quite a lot about them but I wasn’t able to find out if they have stopped breeding by this time of year and so the hull remain clean.

Late afternoon Chris and Dave arrived back alongside on Electric Monk having sailed back from Trizónia today; they have been away up the Gulf of Corinth for the last week.

After filling them in on recent events we had some dinner and then went around to Blue Elephant for cribbage – getting quite addicted to it now, unfortunately the boys won this time.
