Monday 27th April – Bizerte, Tunisia (More strong winds)

Overnight the wind turned again and this morning there were quiet periods between the violent gusts of wind that had us heeling over. The wind has continued to gust at F6-8 throughout the day. The clouds have been scudding angrily overhead and occasionally we have had light showers.

In addition to the strong wind, the electricity went off late morning and so my planned attack on the washing mountain had to be suspended.

After lunch, Rosi and I went off to the local hamman bath and, despite Richard and Otwin's reports, had a lovely afternoon and enjoyed a soothing massage. Admittedly it was not as swish as a spa in the UK but the lady running the session was very friendly. There were only one or two others around and we felt like we were joining in with local tradition.

Afterwards Richard and I went off to the internet cafe late afternoon to try to sort out the formatting on the blog which seems to have gone a bit awry and to upload some photo supplements but there seems to be something wrong with our email and although we could receive emails we were unable to send anything – something for us to look into.

This evening we have had a quiet night in listening to the wind howling through the rigging once again.
