The weather has remained broken since last week’s storm.  No wind or rain in particular but the sky has remained overcast and grey.  Offshore the swell has remained high though is gradually decreasing.  The cloud overhead means it is mild but we could do with the sun returning.

Today, having breakfasted on deck in the comfort of the cockpit enclosure, it was time to get on with a few jobs.

A walk into town to the Chinese emporium has replenished the blown bulb in the lights we fitted before Christmas and a cheap supply of those reflective windscreen covers which will hopefully help to keep the boat cool when the sun reappears for the summer.  It also provided some much needed exercise.

On the way back, Richard managed to detour to Sopromar, the local chandlery and boat yard, so he has fixed the rope on one of the fenders, added some much needed tubing to the big funnel to make refuelling from jerry cans easier, and bought some varnish for painting the woodwork he hasn’t built yet.  Unfortunately he also has his eye on a whisker pole for poling out the genoa for sailing downwind...

This afternoon I have cleaned the fridge and Richard was despatched with a shopping list to Pingo Doce to restock so trolley has also had an outing today.  When he returned he said could I unload whilst he did a Sopromar visit and it wasn’t until he’d gone that I twigged – he’d already been earlier, so he was off to buy more!

This evening we have done the prawns and baguette routine for dinner which were fabulous – prawns are just so much cheaper here than in the UK.

Before bed we watched Airplane on DVD – the old ones are definitely the best.
