Thursday 22nd April – Messolonghi (Sprayhood)

Today the wind dropped to a light breeze.  This meant that we could start work on fitting our new sprayhood and cockpit enclosure that we’ve had shipped out from the UK; it is from the original manufacturer and template so hopefully will fit with only a few tweaks.

The sun was out and it was a hot exercise and fairly nerve racking stretching everything tight and making sure we were fitting the new fasteners in the right place.  However, we were delighted with the look of our finished sprayhood; we can actually see through the windows again J

There wasn’t time to fit the cockpit enclosure but we have cleaned the chrome supports and put it up on the frame so that it can start stretching over night.  Tomorrow we hope to continue the fitting by adding the fittings that hold it to the deck.

This evening we enjoyed dinner in the cockpit until darkness fell.  The windows in the old cockpit enclosure had grown so opaque that it was impossible to see out of them, so it was great to be eating with a view once again, though it felt a bit weird as people were also able to look in.
