Tuesday 20th April – Messolonghi

It has become more and more windy today, though has remained mostly bright and sunny.

We were not able to get on with the jobs we had planned and so went for a walk into town where I made an impromptu visit to the hairdressers – I couldn’t believe how inexpensive it was compared to the price in the UK.  I was delighted with the cut and Richard therefore couldn’t believe the size of my tip to the young girls!

On the way into and back from town, we passed the very long vehicles near the entrance to the marina that are loading and transporting new wind generator pieces that are arriving at the dock.  The other day we saw the incredibly large vanes being driven away and today the central columns have followed them.  Close up they are immense and we skipped past the low-loaders quickly – wouldn’t want to be in the path of one of those coming off its perch.

The rain yesterday brought down a lot of sand which covered the decks making Richard’s previous efforts at deck cleaning void.  This afternoon he managed to rinse down the decks again as we have some jobs on deck that we want to get on with tomorrow.  We are hoping that it doesn’t rain again tonight.

The bikes have also received a good dose of WD40 today to try to revive them after a winter exposed to the elements.  We shall have to see how they have recovered tomorrow.

This evening the wind continues to howl so we are staying onboard with a DVD.
