Tuesday 5th July – Ilhanköy

40:30.353N 27:41.582E

The wind was due to be light and variable so we waited to see what turned up as we only wanted to take a short trip and were happy to set off late.  As it turned out the wind blew from the south in the morning, the direction we wanted to go and the one direction the harbour we were heading to was open to.

In the end it was mid-afternoon before the wind suddenly dropped and went north and so we decided we may as well stay here for the day, after all, we have a great view, and we could simply take it easy.  The wind then continued to go right round the compass a few times for the rest of the day.

During the afternoon Richard sorted out some fishing tackle in the cockpit and was given some çay (tea) by the guys on the fishing boat we are moored alongside who were down mending their nets during the day.  I sent some biscuits over for them in return which went down very well.

This evening we ate on board and enjoyed the view.
