Wednesday 24th August – Orei, Evia

When we woke up this morning everything was still and quiet – which made a pleasant change.

After studying the latest weather and discussing various passaging options it was apparent that we should probably stay here today.  We had breakfast and then chatted with our Greek neighbour who has local knowledge of the Evia channel.  Late morning we went for a walk around town.  One feature of the town is the Hellenistic marble bull on display – it was dredged from the sea by fishermen in 1965 and put in the town square.

The weather has been pleasant and we have had a chance to go swimming off the beach.  The wind filled in during the afternoon and so we have put on a side line for comfort.

We noticed some unshelled prawns in the freezer at the supermarket yesterday at a reasonable price and so this evening we have resurrected our old favourite of prawns and baguette with garlic mayonnaise J
