This morning I awoke at 4am to the sound of a bow thruster off our stern.  I scrambled up into the cockpit to see a boat had arrived and was looking for a berth.  It looked like a delivery crew so I was happy it would be OK and went back to bed.

In the morning we awoke to a burst of thunder and lightning and a torrent of rain.  Richard checked up on deck and reported that yet another yacht had arrived in the night, presumably after 4am and without a loud bow thruster.  Both were alongside the eastern breakwater the other side of the marina from us.

The weather was foul.  I put the kettle on and we settled in for a day on board, waiting for the strong easterly wind expected to fill in.  However, after lunch, we were surprised by a change of attitude from the weather.  It settled and brightened and we had a fantastic afternoon of sunshine and light winds.  We had a lovely lazy afternoon in the cockpit in the sun.

Late afternoon we decided to have a short walk around the marina.  By the time we had got off the boat and walked to the end of the breakwater, the wind had switched quickly to the west and strengthened and we were being pinned once more to the pebble dash breakwater, normal service was resumed.  Well, the view is still fabulous, and you can’t have everything…

We walked right around to the end of the eastern breakwater and on the way back stopped to speak to an English boat, Castaway, which has been moored over there for the last few days; as we were speaking to them we realised we had met them this time last year in Ermioni, the other side of the canal – small world.
