Wednesday 9th June – Nisís Gramvoúsa, Crete – Khania, Crete

35:31.123N 24:01.153E

We were awake fairly early and (very reluctantly) decided to carry on before the day-tripper boat arrived for its daily visit.

We motored the first part of the trip as the wind was light in quite a swell, shooting the narrow gap between Nisís Agria Gramvoúsa and Crete.

As we rounded the first headland, Ák Spáthi, the wind built to a F5 and we were able to sail the rest of the way here to Khania.  The wind remained behind us on a genoa run, gradually easing to F3 as we crossed the bay; in fact we were so pleased, we sailed right up to the marina entrance to make the most of the trip.

We are now stern-to on the town quay, with lazy line rather than using our anchor.  Loud, bustling and built up.  What a contrast to last night.

Someone arrived this evening asking if we wanted electricity/water so we now have electricity.  Also, Richard has found some internet access, so we can also post the blogs.  We have had a short walk around town but will explore more tomorrow (not a Venetian fort in sight J).
